While it can be difficult, there are a lot of great opportunities to helping your site rise to the top.  Is there a surefire way to ensure you crush SEO 100% of the time? No. But you can follow some basic optimizations to ensure your search engine results are firing in your direction.  SEO is a bit of a long topic, so we’re going to offer a few tips and tricks in different posts.

One key SEO item to keep in mind is mobile traffic.  Google is utilizing a mobile index now so one of the very first things you need to ensure is that your site is mobile first.  Especially in the cannabis game where so much of the traffic is coming in off of mobile devices (retail especially!) ensure that your best look is your mobile look.  

Another key SEO area to ensure you have covered …links.  Yes, back to our nerdy title. Think of links in and cross linking within your site are critical.  Due your due diligence and ensure that you have placed your site in with an optimal link in presence.  

Enough links in won’t crush your competition in SEO land, but that’s where our next point comes in.  Content drives SEO. But bad content, just like anything, won’t drive anyone anywhere (unless it’s Sharknado and then it’s just so bad, it’s awesome).  But there’s only one Sharknado so perhaps focus on developing good content. Good content is one of the top 3 ranking factors for Google. If you want your SEO on point, you have to spend the time to focus on that good, if not great, content.  

Then there’s how that great content is being searched.  It used to be fingers, but now a lot of it is with voice search.  “Ok Google” and “Siri tell me…” If you think about your life and how often you use voice search with your phone and your in home experience with Google Home, Siri and Alexa, think about how that’s relating to your business.  Here’s a great article on it. Perhaps the best advice this article has to offer is to listen: listen to how your customers or consumers talk about your brand and how they search for your brand.  Then convert that into your search engine optimization.
